Start With The Right Coffee Table – Look At Appropriate Reception Furniture
In post World War One, the coffee table came into existence. In the days of yesteryear, the modern coffee table was always on a homeowner’s wish list. These days though, people view sofas and comfy chairs as far more important than a coffee table, which is why it has lost much of its relevance and desirability from homeowners.
Those days are gone though.
The modern coffee table is back with a vengeance. What reception area would be complete without the right modern coffee table? As any professional business will know, its all about getting the reception furniture right and showing people that you have a good image. It does have to be said though that you should consider the style, scale and functionality of your furniture before you settle on a choice.
What You Should Know
You want your new coffee table to complement the exiting reception furnishings well, so consider whether they match. The coffee table you pick shouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb and should also be in-keeping with the rest of the building.
If you have a much more traditional reception area then something like a modern coffee table might look a bit out of place.
In a traditional setting, something like an upholstered ottoman can look very stylish and also act as a seat and a table top.
The beauty of furniture is that it can come in so many different styles and designs, so for an ultra modern coffee table why not try adding a wooden table in the reception area.
The Beauty Is On The Inside
Many people have a couple of concerns when it comes to interior design, and that’s usually to do with letting the coffee table stand on its own or use it as a surface area to display bits and bobs. Either way, the choice is entirely yours.

Look at woodworking plans on google - quite a lot are free
You will be needing nominal1 1/2" square by 18" long for the legs, 2" x 1" for the top rails, 1 1/2" x 1" for the bottom rails and, say 1" thick by whatever size you choose for the top and similar but thinner for the bottom shelf.
You must be prepared to true and plane to size all the timber, and to edge join planks for the top and shelf, 'biscuit joints'; Legs and rails will need mortise and tenon joints, cut a groove on the inner faces of the rails so you can fit the top and shelf with buttons, (so they can move against the rails in the varying atmosphere)
Oak or Ash would be good choices or North American Poplar 'tulip-wood' is a little cheaper.
You can also buy laminated sheets of solid pine 22mm thick ( 50mm strips edge joined and finished) and look for some pine for the legs with a similar grain. If you have access to the machine tools needed you should be OK in 40 hours.
